Living Hope Community Church

Project Description

Living Hope Community Church is a community-centered church in the heart of Bucks County, Pennsylvania. In 2008, the leadership developed a new vision for growth. As a result the church decided, in 2009, to begin the planning process to purchase property and build a much needed facility they could officially call home. The new building would play an important role in the church’s mission: to care for its members as well as the surrounding community in tangible ways.

Renew Design Group was invited to be a part of the project’s planning from the very beginning. Our expertise in land planning helped to guide the church through its many sketch plan iterations. The resulting design ensured that the site would accommodate the church’s needs while meeting the project’s rigorous stormwater requirements.

A circulation study revealed the need for a drop-off loop at both the front and rear building access points. A south facing patio will give church attendees a place to enjoy their morning coffee in the summer months while their children enjoy the adjacently located soft play area.

Bio-retention “rain gardens” were used across the site in lieu of underground piping systems for a more sustainable and cost effective means of stormwater management. Additionally, the soils on the site did not allow for significant infiltration therefore our team designed a system that carried stormwater to a basin located at the back of the site which will limit the rate of run-off.

The preliminary plans are currently being reviewed by the township and the project is moving forward with great expectations by the township and the congregation.
